oh pets – oh hell. I am experiencing the worst case scenario right now. With good intentions, we gave a green light, pre-purchase, for an owner to bring in 2 “elderly cats”. This person bought the unit, moved in with their 2 cats, and then all hell broke loose.
Did anyone mention that elderly cats can be incontinent? Did anyone mention that cats are territorial and will “spray” wherever they can go? And feud with other cats; poop in the herb garden; jump in open windows to anyone’s place not just their own. It goes on.
A letter was sent to ALL apartment owners asking them to review the conditions of having pets. In hindsight – I would suggest that any apartment wanting a cat NEEDS to have kitty litter as an absolute necessity; that cats are not allowed outside without the owner present at all times (save our wild birds), that bells must be worn by cats when outside.
Dogs are another matter – I would be equally skeptical about them in future.
Thanks Austman, they are great points. However the sceptics believe that because the under the stairs is not in direct line of the pathway down stairs and out the front door, that it is not relevant to this rule on egress. I’ve seen the area so built up with stuff it’s embarrassing to walk into the building; I thought maybe I was just being a neat freak, but this is also a part of my quiet enjoyment of our lovely heritage building.
Any other pointers others can help with? most welcome to add to this list, especially as far as NSW rules go and for general storage of sports equipment, boxes etc. Thanks.

Building lobbies and stairwells cannot be used for bike parking due to various reasons including:
1. They are designated emergency exit paths and cannot be obstructed.
2. They are the entrances to homes and should not be cluttered or look untidy.
3. They are not designed to be bike parking areas.
4. Bikes can damage paintwork on walls.
ALL very good points Kangaroo. That makes sense completely. I know it’s not an OC issue, just needed to clarify why not! I now understand.
It seems that most of the units are not receiving digital reception but I will ask about internal aerial connections now. There IS a roof aerial, so that should be enough for reception I gather. Will follow up from this angle and expect others to fall in line.
thanks, Mrs.

When was your block built? When was your strata scheme registered?
When was Foxtel invented?
What did the residents of your block do for entertainment between 1956 and the momentous invention of Foxtel?
The obvious answer to your question is that the owner of the unit in question has removed the original TV outlet or re-used it for the Foxtel connection.
Not the OC’s responsibility to re-instate.
Can someone help with clarification on this please?
One of the uits in our block of 6 does not have an antenna point in their unit. They have Foxtel connected via cable and use that for accessing tv channels.
Is it it up the strata corp or the individual unit owner to add an antenna point in the unit?
I think most of the units here have Foxtel.
thanks!
thanks Jimmy T. It’s great to know the proper process in details.
Regards and thanks to you, M.
