We had a pretty successful “Lawyer in the Hot Seat” webinar session this week – despite a few technical issues at my end.
We got through about 30 questions that had been sent to Bannerman’s Lawyers, plus a few ad-libbed queries from yours truly, and at the end came up with a whole new idea for this Forum.
Starting today, we’ll have a Question of the Week. Some topics will be selected from the webinar, including some we didn’t get to, some will be brand new from you guys. All will be answered by strata lawyer (and Flat Chat sponsor) David Bannerman or one of his staff.
This week we’re going to start with the vexed question of what strata schemes can do about residents charging lithium-ion batteries.
Can we set up a safe recharging room in common properties? How can we make sure people are charging their batteries responsibly? Can we ban them from common property?

As part of our continuing efforts to make the Forum more accessible, we are also now making it possible for anyone to click on “reply” and respond to published posts.

The responses will still be moderated, so we can filter out the minority of internet nasties.
However, since this website is self-filtering – it’s only read by intelligent and engaged people like you – the moderation will only require a light touch.
