Forum: Something fishy going on down by the pool

One of the reasons I love this job is that, even though we are often asking and answering variations on the same questions, almost every week I get a query that comes completely out of left field.

This week it’s about a resident fishing from the side of a block’s common property swimming pool into the nearby river.

This resident puts up several rods and lines and attend to them in turn.  Where’s the problem?

Casting could be an issue, for a start, with nasty fishhooks on lines flying back over the pool before they are propelled to the river.

Then what happens when a fish is caught, killed and gutted in front of kids who might not have expected to see that when they went down for a swim?

I think it should be banned but the Flatchatter who posted it is interested in your views.  I think it’s called fishing for comments. That’s HERE.

Elsewhere in the Forum

  • Are there regulations about the kind of lighting you need for strata garages?  That’s HERE.
  • How much fuss do you create when the strata manager and committee members won’t reveal the details of their renovations?  That’s HERE.
  • NSW Fair Trading says the chair doesn’t have the deciding vote in committee.  I am chair in a committee of five. Does that mean I don’t get a vote if the others are tied?  That’s HERE.
  • There’s no power going into the communal electrical board fuse for my unit.  The strata committee is doing nothing about it. Who’s responsible. That’s HERE.

How to ask and answer questions

Anyone can read our posts any time but now there are several easy ways you can search, access, ask questions and reply to others’ queries.

The best way these days may be to click on “Forum: Your Qs & A’s” on the top menu bar on a computer screen or on the drop-down menu (three lines) on the right of the screen on phones and tablets, under the Strata Choice ad. Then click on the topic title that interests you, and off you go.

Alternatively, you can look at the list of “Your latest questions and answers” under the ads on the right of the page on a computer screen. Or at the bottom, after the ads and stories, on a tablet or phone.

Or you can go “old school” and go to the Forum Home Page and work your way through the topics there.

Whichever route you take to get there, the best way to keep up to speed with what’s happening is to register (if you haven’t already done so), then login and subscribe for free to the topics that interest you most.

That way you’ll get an alert whenever the discussion moves forward, and you can also chip in with your own comments and questions.  Have a look HERE at our instant guide to getting online.

If you enjoyed reading this post or found it helpful, please share it with interested friends using our social media buttons. Thanks.
