Just in time for the festive season, we get a very strata Christmas story. It concerns a tenant in a townhouse who has gone a little overboard with the Christmas lights.
Now, the resident in the only other townhouse likes the lights but the landlord doesn’t. The lights are solar powered so there’s no electricity used.
And there has been nothing permanent done to the common property so that’s okay. But the landlord doesn’t like them and wants them removed.
Can he do that? If the festive Flatchatter was an owner, there would be all sorts of arguments about visual amenity and related by-laws.
