It’s now a lot easier to ask questions on the Forum

The joy of being heard - so much easier to get on the Flat Chat Forum

Back in the day when Flat Chat was first set up, we felt we had to make it hard for people to ask questions and post answers on the website.

It was part security check, part intelligence test, working your way through the maze of registrations and log-ins that would finally get you to the Holy Grail of being able to interact on the Forum.

But that was before we had the sophisticated spam detectors and security monitors that these days weed out the malcontents and miscreants, trolls and bots before they get within a semi-colon of the website.

I realise that I have now pretty much issued a challenge to hackers and the like to have a go. Please resist the temptation.

That’s not to say that it was watertight back then. A few determined souls would get through to the pages then start declaring “facts” that seemed to be based on what they thought strata law should be, rather than what it actually was.

Or maybe that was me.

One correspondent even threatened to sue me for correcting his nonsense, then started defaming me to sponsors when I bumped him off the website.

Anyway, that’s all in the past and this week we have decided to make it easier for people to ask questions, completely anonymously, on the Forum.

There’s now a box you can click that will take you to this link where you can send a question directly and it will appear under the generic header of “Mailbox”.

After that, if you want to continue the discussion, registering and logging in is pretty easy, so that option still exists.

But the main thing is it’s now a lot easier to ask a question. We’ll make sure you’re not embarrassed or exposed because answering your questions helps everyone with similar problems if only because they know they are not alone.

Blame trolls, hackers and ranters, or maybe we have been over-cautious about how we let people into the Flat Chat Forum. But, that’s all changed now.

PLEASE ... If your property is not in NSW, mention its location (state). Don't identify companies or individuals by name. Don't mention or promote your company or services. Keep acronyms and initials to a minimum. Please, don’t use “quote” unless there is a specific point to which you wish to refer, then highlight (define) that specific passage before you click on "quote". Otherwise just use reply. THANKS.
