OCN’s big day will get us ready for the future

The Owners Corporation Network (OCN) is gearing up for its big annual Strata Matters conference which this year includes a chance to see Flat Chat Wrap co-hosts JimmyT and Sue Wiliams, in real life.

Intended to get apartment owners “future ready” in 2023, you’ll be informed, entertained and leave better prepared for what your Owners Corporation can do now to prepare for uncertain times ahead.

Opening remarks will be delivered by Hon Anoulack Chanthivong, NSW Minister for Better Regulation and Fair Trading followed by a session on “Doing Strata Better” where you can ask questions directly to Tim James, Shadow Minister for Fair Trading, Work Health and Safety and Building and Alex Greenwich, Independent Member for Sydney.

Tim James is no stranger to strata. From 2012 – 2016, as Chief of Staff to Minister Roberts he was instrumental in steering the largest strata law review in 60 years. During that time, he owned and lived in strata, navigating costly building defects and the usual trials and tribulations of apartment living. Now, as MP for one of Sydney’s highest density electorates, Tim is acutely aware of the need for good governance and committed to government support and consumer protections for strata owners.

The strata savvy Katie Harbon, NSW Department of Customer Service, will talk about the impact of the Construct NSW reform agenda in transforming the industry to ensure high-quality design and construction and improve safety, accountability and transparency for consumers.

Proceedings will be cheerfully conducted by emcee Lachlan Malloch, NSW Department of Customer Service and supported by Flat Chat duo Jimmy Thomson and Sue Williams as panel moderators

Plus there will be an appearance from the ever provocative NSW Building Commissioner, David Chandler OAM!

Three lively panel sessions will be loaded with expert speakers who will share their valuable insights on:
