Our Chairman and the Committee (most) ignore complaints. In response to any complaint from an owner the response is “issue legal proceedings in VCAT if you think you have a case”. The OC Committee members are insured, the owner risks $120k in costs at VCAT. I even engaged a top Melbourne law firm to issue a letter of demand and the OC Committee chose to simply ignore it. The Chairman and the OC (majority not all) refuse to discuss the essence of our complaints. The Chairman and his helpers either don’t know the legislation or think it is at best, a mere suggestion. To the best of my knowledge the OC Committee members don’t have a copy of the Act or the Regs and refuse legal OC training. This is a new billion dollar apartment being run by a handful of narcissists.
There should be new system of where there are more than X number of owners requiring an OC, then it is entirely managed by a fully independent agency. Something akin the the Public Trustee but for OC’s.
