In NSW, owners can nominate themselves, another owner, or a non-owner (for example, a tenant) for election. The owners corporation elects one to nine committee members at the AGM. A person generally cannot join if they owe money to the scheme at the time of the AGM; other exclusions include building managers and agents who lease lots in the scheme, unless they also own a lot. The rules also limit how many representatives from one lot can serve.

Flat Chat’s discussion of who can and can’t stand for election is a useful overview, but it’s commentary rather than definitive legal advice. See the current NSW Government committee guidance for details.

PLEASE ... If your property is not in NSW, mention its location (state). Don't identify companies or individuals by name. Don't mention or promote your company or services. Keep acronyms and initials to a minimum. Please, don’t use “quote” unless there is a specific point to which you wish to refer, then highlight (define) that specific passage before you click on "quote". Otherwise just use reply. THANKS.
