    Thankyou Jimmy T and Whale,

Your advice is much appreciated. I thought the issue was resolved so I sent the strata manager a quick email just to get some feedback and I recieved further complaints. I know that we have done everything possible and I am not one to cause problems so your advice @Whale about 'ignoring' them is the best tactic I can employ.

If down the track this issue continues I am now armed with your advice to move forwards whether it be through fair trading an AVO or a lawyers letter.

    Thankyou so much!Cool

in reply to: Wasps nest #15240

Im on an acreage and I am renting it while I have my apartment in the city is rented to tenants and funnily enough we too have had a few wasp nests on our property. I was actually stung last year while hedging but we had a huge wasp net right outside the bathroom window. I would say without any authority whatsoever that the tenant should just get rid of it and I cant believe they would say its your responsibility. They are very easy to remove.

In the darkness armed with a torch and scissors and a plastic bag approach it with the nest to fall in the plastic bag after one snip at it.

    Tie the bag and dispose.

    Done.

in reply to: How to get permission for a dog #15239

I just love a lively debate and this issue is close to my heart. I bought my apartment because it was pet friendly, however on the first day I moved in my neighbour and EC member curtly told me 'no dogs were allowed'. This EC member backed down when I told her I was the owner and that when I checked there were no bylaws in place. They had recently just made this rule prior to me moving in. So in short I applied to the EC and got permission (of sorts) I believe you should have it in writing? I have asked for this in writing but gave up 2 years ago when I moved out.

Many dogs these days live in apartments. Its a fact of life. Our dog never barked, she is a city apartment dog and is quiet and doesnt shred hair. Non issue – never has been. We now live in a huge house on 5 acres, guess what? she is still an inside dog and always will be.

You cant make judgements about people and their pets. I agree some can be a nightmare, but dog friendly buildings can add value to property. People are willing to pay that little bit more if they know that there dog is welcome.

I guess I should add that the EC member has a history of being difficult. I have recieved harrassing phone call messages from this person when I lived there this EC member would often appoach me in the foyer and begin her tirade. I ignored it for a few years. Then I moved out and it continued via distance. The odd voice message etc. Last year my tenants were away overseas and we had compaints about the AC once again. Via europe our tenants insisted the AC was off, however to appease this neighbour, the strata manager, the real estate, the Air Con company arrived to find out the source of this noise to discover what she was hearing while faint was coming from the buildings air duct. Not from the AC.

Im at a wits end really. I have already shelled out in excess of $6000 to relocate this AC unit 3 times and want the issue to stop. But I simply refuse to remove it as then I believe she would win her fight and its not about noise, this is about her exercising her power.

Anyone’s help, ideas would be so appreciated.
