This year has been huge for pet owners in strata, especially in NSW, with companion animals moved from the small print of our by-laws to the news pages of our media, as “no pets” rules in NSW were declared illegal, then reinstated, then revoked again.
So it’s good to put some of the stress and hassle behind us and enjoy one of the more positive conundrums for new pet owners … choosing a name.
“This is always a wonderful time of year when we get to showcase some of the wonderful and creative names pet parents are choosing for their canine and feline companions, year on year,” says Nadia Crighton from Pet Insurance Australia .
“We have some additional interesting categories this year including unusual pet names, and those drawn from popular books and movies.”
Once again, Luna tops the lists for females in both the cat and dog category. With some popular names like Daisy, Coco, Charlie, and Bella reappearing. A few new names and not-so-new have joined the lists this year such as Willow, Maggie, Winston, and Bear.
Meanwhile the traditional name of Fluffy has also made a comeback, as have others like Shadow, Teddy, and Bear. Here at Flat Chat, we take issue with Coco appearing under the food names list – surely it should be “Famous fashion designers.”
But it’s all good fun. Nadia Crighton is a special guest on this week’s podcast, talking about everything related to pets in strata, including the kind of restrictions that buildings can introduce, now that they can’t ban pets outright.
