If your balcony was looking a bit iffy, wouldn’t you want it fixed pronto? And wouldn’t you chip in to have all the balconies in your building checked and repaired too?
After all, it’s only eight years since two women died and 18 were injured at a Tupperware party in Melbourne when the balcony they were on collapsed.

Two years before, that five Irish students and an American friend died when a balcony collapsed at a party in Berkeley California. FYI: The building was only eight years old.
It’s a fact of life and gravity. When balconies can’t handle the weight on them, they drop, as occurred at the beach party in Malibu where nine people were injured (video below).
Now, our Flatchatter in Tassie really, really wants to fix the problems in his block’s balconies, which are starting to show signs of serious distress. And, to be clear, if this was a relatively new building in NSW, it would be a common property issue, plain and simple.
But in this block, the balconies are part of the lot property. And not all the individual owners want to pay for the fixes on their own while others, who don’t have any problems, may not want to pitch in if they don’t have to.
So our Flatchatter has a dilemma – even if the majority of owners wanted to fix the problem on all the balconies, can they legally spend owners corp money from the sinking fund on individual lots? That’s HERE.
Another less potentially disatrous question has arise over proxy forms, namely, can you give someone your proxy by sending a text message or email? In NSW you have to use the form supplied by Fair Trading.

Or look at the list of “Your latest questions and answers” under the ads on the right of the page on a computer screen. Or at the bottom, after the ads and stories, on a tablet or phone.
finally, you can go “old school” and go to the Forum Home Page and work your way through the topics there.
